Something Fun This Way Comes

SYNSOPSIS: A single mom named Gabbie hires a tour guide, a psychic, a priest and a historian to help exorcise her newly bought mansion after discovering it is inhabited by ghosts.

This summer has brought some heavy movies that I have loved.  The drama Oppenheimer, the action adventure Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning part 1, and the erotic thriller Sanctuary top that list.  Not all movies have to be 4 star features, some can be just fun to watch.

That is exactly what I expected when I sat down to see the ensemble in Haunted Mansion, the latest Disney attempt to capture the franchise magic of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Almost twenty years ago Disney tried to make Haunted Mansion a mega franchise when they released an adaptation of their ride, with Eddie Murphy in the lead role. That film was not so much. The current 223 release sticks the landing.

The ensemble created appeared to gave a lot of fun with their roles and that created a wild and fun ride.  The movie dies have sone spooky moments mixed in.

What I liked about this is it is a non franchise non sequel huge ensemble movie. (Yes I am aware that it is a remake but outside of a very general concept and title it shares nothing with the original film.)

There have been some sequels I have enjoyed and looked forward to this summer I am tired of superhero and cookie cutter franchise films.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
