DTPRYLINE: A star-pilot for hire and his trusty sidekick must come to the rescue of a princess and save Planet Druidia from the clutches of the evil Spaceballs.
I hate streaming services, Netflix chief among them. They take the social aspects out of the movies. The movie theater is a shared experience. Gender, race, sexual orientation is gone. For two hours strangers are drawn together for a common experience. Together everyone attendance will laugh at the jokes, jump at the scares, and cheer as good triumphs over evil.
Well over sixty people got together for a matinee of Spaceballs. Together everyone laughed and quoted along with the immortal comedy. Screenings like this only help society get over its differences. It won’t solves the problems but is a small step in the right direction.
Attendees of all ages, races, and various backgrounds were comfortable together, assembling for a fun gathering for all.
A movie does not have to be a classic, like Spaceballs, for folks to cone together. Mega hits like Oppenheimer and, ugh, Barbie free record crowds. The experience of attendees gathering together for a shared experience is the same across all films.
Until next time, I will see you at the movies!
