STORYLINE: Inventing flying contraptions, war machines and studying cadavers, Leonardo da Vinci tackles the meaning of life itself with the help of French princess Marguerite de Nevarre.
The trailer for The Inventor intrigued me. Yes that is the point of trailers, to bring in an audience. I liked the idea of seeing a biopic where the art of Leonardo Davinci was not the focus.
The Inventor was just that. While his art was featured in the film , it was an after thought to his science.
I have to admit it took me a little longer than normal to get into the movie. When I did I was really into it. For reasons previously mentioned I enjoyed the unfolding story. I also enjoyed the animation style. It was classic stop motion, like the holiday special Rudolph the Red Nise Reindeer. Mixed in, however. Were screens of classic hand drawn animation. The film was told as a drama but featured a few musical numbers. While the scenes served a point the musical numbers seemed unnecessary other than to add some entertainment to keep younger audience members engaged.
When adding the historical subject matter with how the story was presented to audiences I feel this movie would be a great way to introduce the next generation to a true genius of mankind, Leonardo Davinci.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
