THE CREATOR (2023): An Intriguing Sci-fi film

Storyline: Amid a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua, a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife, is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war-and mankind itself.

2023 has been a strong year at the movies.  Some films, like Oppenheimer, tell intriguing stories well.  Other films, such as Cocaine Bear, are Judy fun to watch.    Films like How To Blow Up A Pipeline generate conversation.

The Creator tells an oversold story well and creates a great conversation.  The film touches on many points about ethics, survival, and being human.

When I sat down for the showing I expected a straight out war flick, in the same vein as The Terminator.  Yes the film features a war plot, it also features an exciting cat and mouse fugitive plot.

John Favid Washington first came ov my radar, as an actor, in Blackkklansman and stayed there with Tenet.  He leads the cast in The Creator.  While this is not as a strong performance as the other films I mentioned he still proves what a talent he is.  In defense of The Creator the story in the others were stronger.

This film is also a visual feast. The effects looked fantastic and seeing it on the big screen played that up beautifully. Also the surround sound of the movie theater was a pleasure when listening to all the sound effects, which should make it a strong contender in the technical categories cone Oscar season.

This film was the right combination of entertaining and thought provoking.  That is a hard line ti walk.  When done right, like with The Creator, it makes for an incredible feature film.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
