An R Rated, Offensive, Musical Parent Trap

Note this is a blog about a movie called DICKS: THE MUSICAL.  Read at your own discretion.

STORYLINE: A pair of business rivals discover that they’re identical twins and decide to swap places in an attempt to trick their divorced parents to get back together.

As mentioned in the title of this blog Dicks The Musical is an R rated offensive musical version of The Parent Trap.  This film has something to offend everyone no matter where you stand on things in life.  I love that about this movie.  It through political correctness out the window first thing and kept going.

I was the only one in the auditorium enjoying the lights of the projector light this show across the silver screen. Yes it has a bad title.  Yes it has a hard R rating. Yes there are other films out to see that are better.  So there is an up hill battle for this under dog.  In 1975 so did The Rocky Horror Picture Show.  I do believe that with time Dicks: The Musical will achieve cult  status like The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

While I rant about this movie the stand out of the ensemble is Nathan Lane.  He plays his character so over the top, it is fabulous. I do believe he missed his calling to host the Academy Awards.

Anyways I had a blast watching this bizarre, offensive, R rated, musical, grown up version of The Parent Trap that is destined to be the next The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
