The Hunger Games: TheBallad of Songbirds & Snakes

STORYLINE: The story of Coriolanus Snow, years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem. He is handsome and charming, and though the Snow family has fallen on hard times, Coriolanus sees a chance for a change in his fortunes when he is chosen to be a mentor for the 10th Hunger Games only to have his elation dashed when he is assigned to mentor a girl tribute named Lucy Gray Baird from the impoverished District 12.

Prequels are a tricky part of cinema.  They have a very clear direction to take their ending, much like a shoe horn.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes took an interesting approach.  Instead of telling the story of a previous Hunger Games, which in a way it did, the film told the back story of the antagonist Coriolanus Snow.

I did enjoy rge story that unfolded during the two hour and fifteen minute runtime of the movie.  I wanted to enjoy rge story though because I enjoyed the story in the previous e Hunger Game ps films.

What I enjoyed above all else from the film was Viola Davis’ performance as the game maker.  I am a mega fan of her work and enjoyed seeing her as a villain role.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes did have a Beth different look to it then the original films.  This one had a more gritty and in your face feel to it.  The originals, the first especially, had a lavish and epic look and feel to them.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
