STORYLINE:  Nicolas Cage stars as Paul Matthews, a listless family man and tenured professor with an affinity for evolutionary biology and anxiety regarding his own anonymity. One day, he discovers he has begun to appear in other people’s dreams at an exponential rate. As in life, his presence in these dreams is banal and non-intrusive – he’s simply there, staring indifferently at the fantasies and nightmares of strangers. Nonetheless, he becomes an overnight celebrity, and is soon showered with the attention he has long been denied. But when Paul encounters a dreamer whose visions of him differ substantially from the norm, he finds himself grappling with the Faustian bargain of fame as his dream-selves start inexplicably becoming violent within their respective subconsciousnesses.  (IMDb)

     Over the past few years Nicolas Cage has released some exciting, unique films. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (my personal ), the western The Old Way, and the action film The Retirement Plan to name a few.  The one I did not enjoy was the 2021 release Pig.

     2023 just saw the release of the latest of these films, Dream Scenario.  I was not sure what to make of the trailer when I first saw it but was still excited to see the movie when I sat down in my favorite seat.

    Dream Scenario is in fact a bizarre movie with some very uncomfortable moments sprinkled in.  You know what?  It works and does so well.  

     The movie could of easily taken things to far but I felt it took it took it just far enough to make its point.  Yes it made me uncomfortable but I feel that at times that it is okay.  

     The movie mixed in some genuine sweet moments as well as sone awkward humor.  Considering the unique premise of the film how could it not?  What it did was balance it  through out the hour and forty minute runtime of the feature. 

    It is very easy to say I enjoyed this unique Nicolas Cage feature and look forward to his next film!
