SOUL (2020): A Retro Review

STOEYLINE: Joe is a middle-school band teacher whose life hasn’t quite gone the way he expected. His true passion is jazz and he’s good. But when he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it means to have soul.

2020 sucked! Thank you to the Covid pandemic for that.

A major casualty of the pandemic was the the theatrical release of some cinematic treasures. With that cinemas have been safely reopen for a few years now Disney/Pixar has seen fit to give there Oscar winning hit Soul a limited theatrical release.

I was excited to get to see the Janie Foxx/Tina Fey voiced animated film for two reasons. One I love going to the movie theater.  Two I already am a fan of this one and have wanted the opportunity to see this Soul on the big screen  ever since I added the dvd to my movie library.

The movie did not disappoint me.  While the animation had its low points (I had that view point already) the sound was glorious coming at me from all directions, from the theaters surround sound.

I fell easily back into story, despite knowing how it would end.  That is the sign of a good movie.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
