Freud’s Last Session

STORYLINE: Freud invites iconic author C.S. Lewis to debate the existence of God. And his unique relationship with his daughter, and Lewis’ unconventional relationship with his best friend’s mother.

I must admit Freud’s Last Session was not my favorite move.  It was not the worst movie I ever saw either.

There were two reasons I went to see the film.  The first was the synsopsis and trailer really intrigued me.  The second reason is I am a huge fan of Anthony Hopkins, who delivered a great performance!

The film fell flat for me in the final third, when it became solely a talking heads film.  Gone were the interesting flashbacks that broke up two people sitting around having conversations that did not seem to have enough material to fill the entire film.

Characters in a limited setting talking in the past. After all Ethan Hawks and Julie Depry starred in Before Sunrise and its two sequels.  I throughly enjoyed the trilogy.

In the end I enjoyed myself, watching the movie because I enjoy watching movies, even if Freud’s Last Session did not live up to my expectations.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
