Founders Day

STORYLINE: In this satirical political slasher, a small town is shaken by a series of ominous killings in the days leading up to a heated mayoral election. As accusations fly and the threat of a masked killer darkens every street corner, the residents must race to uncover the truth before fear consumes the town.

It’s 2024 and it seems inevitable, in an election year, political themes find their way into a variety of movies.  The slasher film Founders Day is one such causality of that fact. However, the film is first a slasher film and it prioritizes those aspects over the political plot points.

As mentioned Founders Day is a slasher film. There is a fair amount of mindless enjoyment to the plot.  With that comes alot of predictability but that comes with the territory. It did not stop me from enjoying the premise, in fact the opposite. Sometimes I enjoy sitting back in a movie and just be entertained.

The political aspects of the film were persistent throughout. However, after popping up, they would return the film to being a slasher flick in pretty routine fashion.

While I enjoyed the movie, it is a true January release.  It is fun but a far cry from fantastic.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
