LISA FRANKENSTEIN (2024 dark comedy)

STORYLINE:  After suffering an unspeakable tragedy, Lisa finds herself at a new school her senior year in 1989, struggling to fit in, despite her “sister” Chaffy trying to get her to conform to her more typical cheerleader vibe. When a freak accident reanimates a corpse from the abandoned cemetery where she was spending time, she must keep his arrival a secret from her family and classmates, all while deciding how much she wants to help him, and at what cost.  (IMDb)

Not every movie I watch is thought provoking, a slice of the real world, scary, silly, or over the the top even though that is where my cinematic tastes tend to run.  However Lisa Frankenstein is as trashy fun as it can be and I throughly enjoyed myself watching it!

The movie itself is a gothic, dark comedy version of 2008’s Twilight.  The film traded dirt for sparkles and  turned it into a joke while I giggled.

Lisa Frankenstein featured a retro vibe that added to its campiness.   Combing the 1980’s teen costumes and styles with neighborhoods semi reminiscent of Edward Scissorhands created for a campy cinematic atmosphere.

The acting was not the greatest in this film but again not every performance has to be Oscar caliber. The hokimess in the performance just added to the fun/campiness of the movie.

It is safe to say I had fun watching Lisa Frankenstein.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
