That is an impressive list of movies about Incredible musicians. Looking at the years of release it makes one wonder why it took until 2024 to add a film about Bob Marley to that list.

Bob Marley himself was a talented musician and politically active individual whose message of peace echoes just as relevant  today. While I enjoyed the film about his LOFE and music I felt he deserved better. I wanted to like the movie more than I ended up liking it.

I felt the movie lacked focus. If pulled desperately between the music and the politics of Bob Marley without developing Bob Marley as an individual. I feel the film needed to focus on one or the other. If not choose a focus between the music or the politics add twenty five minutes to the hour and forty five minute runtime and further develop both. That would add depth and perspective to the movie.  Much of the music is political in nature and this seems an interesting approach.

I did enjoy how the film jumped right into things instead of slowly building up to events. Considering the limited runtime every minute counts.

There is an incredible documentary from 2012 simply titled MARLEY.  I find it worth recommending, in this in this context, for obvious reasons.  The documentary is a bit longer than the biopic and goes into further detail about the life of Bob Marley.

Bob Marley: One Love is worth the price of admission so you can be engulfed by the music of the legendary Bob Marley  coming from all directions, the wat only a movie theater surround sound can.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
