STORYLINE: Written by Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke, this comedy caper follows Jamie, an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend, and her demure friend Marian who desperately needs to loosen up. In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way. Directed by Ethan Coen.
The Coen Brothers have been responsible for some truly unique movie throughout the years. They started with Fargo and made Hail Caesar! Along the way came two of my personal favorites The Big Lebowski and the Oscar winning No Country for Old Men. This weekend saw the release of Ethan Coen’s solo effort Drive-Away Dolls.
Like previous Coen Brothers comedies such as Burn After Reading, Drove-Away Dolls I found to be on the bizarre side of things. I also found myself laughing out loud quiet during the movie. That was a lot of fun and made for a wild ride of a movie.
Drive-Away Dolls had a runtime of 1 hour and 24 minutes. For this story that was perfect. Any longer the bizarre since of humor would of just gotten annoying.
With the exception of a cameo by Matt Damon I did non recognize any of the cast. I enjoyed that aspect throughly of the film. I liked being introduced to new performers in lead and important roles throughout the story.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
