STORYLINE: Jack Delroy is the host of a fictional 1970s variety and late-night talk show titled Night Owls with Jack Delroy. In the show’s sixth season, broadcast on Halloween 1977, havoc unfolds when Delroy interviews a parapsychologist and the subject of her recent book, a young teenager who was the sole survivor of a Satanic church‘s mass suicide, as well as a clairvoyant and skeptic.

     Friday March 22, 2024 was a rainy spring evening, a good night for a movie.  Ok this is me, I think any night is a good night for a good movie.  A rainy night adds the atmosphere for something spooky.  Luckily I had purchased a ticket earlier in the week to see the 1977 set Late Night with the Devil.

     I am entertained by trashy, B, low budget horror films.  That pretty much sums up this film. By the time the lights came back on I was 100% entertained and pleased that I had purchased that ticket earlier in the week.

     The movie runtime checks in at a swift ninety three minutes. That was perfect for the story. Any longer and I would of lost interest with the premise of the film. Any shorter the jump scares would of been rushed and not have been effective as scares. 

     I am liking the fact that the horror genre is getting away torture porn that the ladder Saw sequels and entire Hostel franchise made popular.  Yes Late Night with the Devil had gore in it but it was very minimal.  This required the film to be creative in its scares.  Like Like a good horror film, that is the way it should be.  That is why I get more excited for a PG13 horror film than an R one.
