I am going to start with a bold statement. Immaculate is the best new release horror film I have seen in the past five, six years. It got to the point quickly. The movie had an extremly compelling story that was driven by a character that I came to enjoy. Most importantly the film had an atmosphere of freight. This adds up to a winning combination for a horror film. I am not saying there haven’t been any good horror films over the past five, six years. I am saying Immaculate has done it the best.
The heartbeat of the film is Sydney Sweeney’s performance. Like any film, Immaculate leans heavily on its lead to carry the film. Sydney Sweeney not only varies the film she runs away with it. Much like Toni Collette did with 2018’s Hereditary.
Immaculate I found to be similar to the classic Rosemary’s Baby. That could another reason I loved this one so much because Rosemary’s Baby is my favorite horror film.
I look forward to seeing Immaculate again.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
