FOOD INC 2 (2024 – Documentary)

STORYLINE: The groundbreaking Oscar®-nominated documentary Food, Inc. ignited a cultural conversation about the multinational corporations that control our food system at enormous cost to our planet, workforce and health. In the well-timed sequel, Food, Inc. 2, comes “back for seconds” to reveal how corporate consolidation has gone unchecked by our government, leaving us with a highly efficient yet shockingly vulnerable food system dedicated only towards increasing profits.  (IMDb)

Documentaries come on many shapes and sizes.  Some are puff pieces about their subjects. Others have an agenda. Some are concert films.  Food Inc 2, like its predecessor, falls under the umbrella of the documentary with an agenda.

Documentaries with agendas tend to be preachy as they fulfill said agenda. Food Inc 2 is no exception to that.

From the time the lights went down until they returned to their illuminating status the film made some interesting points as well as presented points from its preceding film, this tends to be the way of sequels though. In representing these points, however, Food Inc 2 presented them with new information. The fascinating parts of these presentations were how the pandemic factored into these points.

The other fasinating presentations in the film was the research being done in food development, in particular in meat development. This includes actual meat not just the impossible burgers, both featured in segments in the feature film.

Though a preachy documentary Food Inc 2 had some fasinating points.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
