STORYLINE: After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl.
2024 has had the release of some great horror films such as Immaculate and surprisingly The First Omen. There have been a handful of entertaining horror films that have lit of the silver screen this year such as Night Swim and Imaginary. Somewhere in between those two markers in the April release Abigail. A film about a child, ballerina, vampire. Yes if you are into horror films or is as entertaining as ot sounds.
The general premise, a handful of anonymous bad guys trapped with something spooky, has been done a dozen times before. The filmmakers made it bloody, and I do mean bloody, fun. The climax got a bit unnecessarily convoluted but a few minutes did not stop me from enjoying the overall 109 minute movie.
I am glad to see vampire movies return to blood sucking creatures of the night. Though sparkly love stories are a secret guilty pleasure of fine. Did I just publish that online? I also enjoyed the What We Do in the Shadows feature film.
With all that said I a, eager to see what other horror films this year has to offer. Based off the trailer reel before Abigail I a, very excited.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
