    As mentioned in a previous post prequels are a tricky piece of cinema. They have to fit neatly into their respective puzzle. What works beautifully about the puzzle piece known as A Quiet Place: Day One is it is it serves two purposes. Purpose one is an origin story to the beloved film A Quiet Place. The second purpose is it expands the story as a stand alone film with a unique perspective on the franchise. 

   Lupita Nyong’o, of 12 Years of A Slace, slips naturally into the lead.  She carries the suspense film well from start to finish.  A lot depends on her performance, which dies of the lead of any film. 

    What worked well for the horror film was the use of daylight.  A fair amount of the jump scares happened during daylight hours. This seems to be a rarity in within the genre. Most horror films tend to scare viewers in the dark or the shadows. A Quiet Place: Day One took a big step out of the dark. 

    Yes I was pleased that the third film in the franchise took a step back to the origins and told the how the earth went silent when from an alien invader dependent on noise.
