STORYLINE: Starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, Fly Me To The Moon is a sharp, stylish romantic comedy set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing. Brought in to fix NASA’s public image, sparks fly in all directions as marketing maven Kelly Jones (Johansson) wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Davis’s (Tatum) already difficult task. When the White House deems the mission too important to fail, the countdown truly begins. (IMDb)
In the middle of a release pattern that features a variety of of sequels for moviegoers to choose from comes a grown up ensemble film, Fly Me to the Moon.
The film checks the boxes for me. It is entertaining. It flies not insult my intelligence. The music does not overwhelm me allowing the talented ensemble to do their job, which was done well. The love story was not over done and woven well into the narrative of the film. The movie hit the spot for me. Which is to say it is what Fly me to the Moon is what J expected it to be and I was not over the moon with it.
What I liked about the movie was it was an original movie with a large ensemble. I have said this before, this is what I currently prefer in a summer film over the bombardment of sequels that continue to be released.
There was a decent crowd in the auditorium yesterday and I am hopeful thatthis is reflective if other screenings throughout the nation., this is a good movie and more original films, such as this fun one, for grown ups need to be released in theaters.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
