STORYLINE: Follows Caligula as he kills his devious adoptive grandfather and takes control of the decadent Roman Empire, spiralling into depravity, devastation, and madness.

    I like historic epic films (Spartacus, Gladiator). I enjoy watching movies with controversy behind them, (JFK, The Blair Witch Project).  

    When I saw that the Alamo Deaft pho use was opening Caligula: the Ultimate Cut I started digging into the  source material.  Naturally I was intrigued and made the pilgrimage to Raleigh to see the three hour movie. 

    By 2:45 when the movie ended I was more then ready for the movie to be over. I needed more plot then raging paranoia, killing, and erotica. Honestly it seems like I get that from the majority of news cycles these days. 

    Yes I did enjoy the trip of stars: Malcom Malcolm McDowell, Helen Mirren, and Peter O Toole.  I have enjoyed all their work over the years.  Getting to see them together on the big screen, was the best part of the movies maybe the only decent part of the feature film.

   Yes it was long. Yes it worth seeing. Would I see it again? No.
