SUPER/MAN: THE CHRISTOPHER REEVE STORY (2024)

STORYLINE: Reeve’s rise to becoming a film star follows with a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. After which he became an activist for spinal cord injury treatments and disability rights.  (IMDb)

A value of mine in to look out for the underdog, in fact this is what I believe in most of all.  This is why Christopher Reece is my personal hero. After his accident he became a champion of the psychically disabled, an underdog that needs a champion.

I did not want to miss the divumebtsry Super/man: The Christopher z Reeve Story because of my hero worship of the subject matter. Fair warning I am bias and this blog will be one sided.

I was fascinated by the behind the scenes of his casting of Superman.  The Hollywood portions of the film that I really enjoyed was when the film put its ficus on Reece’s comeback post accident. It was his own personal underdog story. Hearing about how the his Oscar appearance inspired him to direct his first feature film.  This was a moment where I wanted to jump up and cheer for my here.

I absolutely loved hearing about his foundation and the work it has done to help the underdogs in need. I was aware of the controversies as ChrisyohrrcReece followed his passions but sighed a sigh of relief when the course was corrected and  any more underdogs were fought for.

A lump was put in my throte hearing all the stories of the people he helped and it was inspiring. My heart broke three times in the film. The first was when the film discussed the accident. The second was when the folk brought up his death,  the third was when Robin Williams, another hero of mine, gave the eulogy.  I was caught off hairdo to make that much of an emotional connection to the film, not surprised though.

Told you this was going to be a bias blog.

Until next time I will see yoi at the movies!
