   I am opening this entry with a confession, that may be a bit on the obvious side.  I am not the target demographic for Moana 2.  Then again I fell outside the target demographic when I saw The Wild Robot and Inside Out 2.  The difference in the three films is I really enjoyed the ladder two, where I felt that the Moana sequel missed its mark. 

   I had a tough time keeping invested in the story.  On a couple occasions I had to remind myself to actually pay attention to the events on screen, instead of looking forward to sitting at the bar and saying ‘hello’ to me friends who work at the theater as they had a second on their overly busy Saturday. 

    I did not even find the musical numbers catchy. That’s a shame because in most Disney movies I can not let them go.

    I will admit there was some good in the sequel. Mainly it centered around the centered around the sarcastic dialogue that was sprinkled in from Dwayne Johnson’s Maui.  For those who know me well these shining moments of sarcasm should not be a surprise as the main  source of my enjoyment.

    It will not surprise me if Moana 2 competes for the animated feature Oscar come March. At this moment I still think the competition will be between Inside Out 2 and The Wild Robot. At least that’s my hope with my friendly sidebar. 

   It does not matter if I am the target audience or not it will not shop me from opening my mind to a new movie going experience.
