THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM (2024)

STORYLINE: Set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy of films, it tells the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. A sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and ruthless lord of Rohan, with dubious ancestry, having many ties to Dunland, he seeks vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg-a mighty fortress that will later come to be known as Helm’s Deep. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction. (IMDb)

Lord of the Rings has never really been my fandom. I enjoyed seeing the original trilogy. The extended editions were fine even though they slightly annoyed me.  The Hobbit trilogy was really got under my skin.  I never read any of the books.  Realistically, at this point in my life I won’t.

This weekend the latest Lord of The Rings saga The War of Rohiirrim lit up the silver screen!

Like the trilogy and The Hobbit before this I had not read the book, and like the trilogy and The Hobbit after seeing the movie I feel no inspiration to read said book.

This movie was lackluster at best. The film clocks in at two hours and fifteen minutes, which when pushed is thirty minutes to long for me. It was a lot of hurry up and wait for nothing to happen.

On the positive side of things though was the animation. It was pretty to look for the two hour and fifteen minute runtime of the movie. However a movie also needs an intriguing story with intriguing characters and thus Lord of the Rings entry missed that mark.

Oh well you bang win them all can you?  At least the popcorn was tasty when I visited theater.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
