STORYLINE: Mufasa, a cub lost and alone, meets a sympathetic lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of a group of misfits searching for their destiny. (IMDb):
My how the mighty have fallen! Director Berry Jenkins crafted Moonlight, which is a beautiful and powerful movie. He followed it up with If Beale Street Could Talk. In this film he skillfully brought James Baldwin’s incredible book to audiences. With Mufasa he tells how The Lion King became The Lion King.
Mufasa: The Lion King is a rip off of the far superior 90’s children’s classic The Land Before Time. Nor does the prequel live up to its animated predecessor. (Side note do not dare call this or the 2019 remake of The Lion King live action. The lions and films are CGI). The story did not grab nor keep my attention. The music missed the mark as well.
This prequel did nit roar.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
