   In life there are many things that will surprise you.  Some will be for the better.  Others for the worse.  None the less you will be surprised. The Pamela Anderson showcase The Last Showgirl is one of those things that surprised me and did so for the better.  I did not know she could deliver such a qualify performance.

     Let’s start with the film itself and circle back.  The Last Showgirl tells the kind of story of story of once semi glorious performers desperately trying to hold on to a spotlight they never really had to begin with.  I have seen this story delusion of grandeur story play out in better films.

     The strength of this film lies in its performances. The film boasts a supporting cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Jennifer Lawrence, and Dave Bautista.  All actors whose work I have enjoyed on one fashion or another. 

   The stand out, is shockingly Oaneka Anderson.  I never would of thought she would of delivered such a fine performance. Much like Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler, I a, drawn to parallels between the character she plays and her career.  I am wondering how much she is holding on to with wanting to still be relevant as a sex symbol when there are many younger counter parts out there?  Just as in the film.
