Animated films tend to fit a mold. Chiefly so they can target a younger demographic. I do enjoy seeing the animated feature that breaks the mold. The Vincent Van Gogh film Loving Vincent, Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises, and Persepolis from 2007 are all prime examples. Adding to that list is 2024’s Flow.
The dialogue free animated feature is a beautiful to watch. Bring able to see the images on the big screen was well worth the price of admission.
What the film hinged on was the score. The score worked beautifully for the film. Considering that thete was no dialogue that was a must for that one.
I loved Inside Out 2. I enjoyed The Wild Robot. Both film are competing with Flow at the Oscars in the Animated Feature category. Flow is, understandably, the front runner. I like the idea of a more grown up film winning this category.
The screening I went to see was well attended. The auditorium was two thirds full. I love that there is a demand fot see smaller films like these as well.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
