Do you remember the first time you heard when Clark Gable not give a damn or when Judy Garland told Toto about her feeling about not being in Kansas anymore? Films have an ability to transport the viewer to another world or another place in time. Sometimes even teach the viewer something. More importantly they bring people together to share a common interest, for a few hours. That could be to laugh, be scared, do the Time Warp, or have a rush of adrenaline as your favorite superhero once again saves the world. After the lights come on favorite quotes are often being quoted.
Often the greatest quotes transcend these precious moments with friends and make it into mainstream society. I know what you are thinking, surely Will you can not be serious. I am and please do not call me Shirley. How often have you used that quote jokingly with your buddies? I have custom text tones fir friends that are movue quotes. I would be the only one with this customization.
Quotes immediately draw back the movie they are from. Everyone knows ‘Luke I am your father’ is from Star Wars. Many film goers hace neon rise of going to see one, if not many of the Star Wars films, even if it’s not the one that specific quote originates. It invokes, for many, the memories, of seeing other films across the series.
There are many additional quotes that provoke those memories for me. That is for another blog though. What quotes do it for you?
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
