CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD (2025)

STORYLINE: Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, finds himself in the middle of an international incident and must discover the motive behind a nefarious global plan. (IMDb)

What I enjoy about the Captain America films is they tend to mix genres.  Captain America: The first Avenger (2011) mixed the comic book features with the war films.  The second entry in the franchise The Winter Soldier (2014) mixed the superhero films with the spy genre. The latest entry Brave New World double dips as a paranoia thriller, much like The Manchurian Candidate or The Parallax View from the 1960’s and 70’s.  Unlike those two brilliant films this MCU film fails to hit its mark.

For many years now silver screen projectors have played more superhero films then I want to go count.  I am warn out from the flooded market and need something different from the cookie cutter features to get me excited for any supergirl feature, especially a MCU entry.  That’s why I was looking forward to the latest Captain America entry.

When the film started a bit on the political side and I was intrigued because I thought it would be a completely different direction. Minutes later it fell quickly into a typical Marvel film with the atmosphere of a paranoia film of yesteryear.  I exited the auditorium and headed to the bar for my customary post movie drink disappointed, once again in a Marcel movie, post Avengers: Endgame.

This weekend I hope to marvel at better movies.

Until next time I will see you at the movies.
