STORYLINE: Two of New York City’s most notorious organized crime bosses vie for control of the city’s streets. Once best friends, petty jealousies and a series of betrayals set them on a deadly collision course. (IMDb)

     – Casino (1995) – Goodfellas (1990) – The Godfather part 2 (1974) – The Untouchables (1987).

That quartet of incredible films all share a common subject matter of the mob and a common star in Robert Deniro.  Adding to the list is The Alto Knights, from 2025.

    The Alto Knights did not live up to the quartet listed. After all those four films set an incredibly high bar.  Still I was throughly engaged in the film and highly enjoyed watching it.

    The Alto Knights was a nice homage to the classic gangster films.  The structure of the story was a throwback I liked, specifically, to the films of the nineties. 

   I enjoyed seeing Robert Deniro in a new mob movie. I did not say the same for The Irishman.  Now I want to rewatch some of those titles mentioned at the start of this blog.
