Often a sequel arrives in theaters within close proximity to its predecessor. Sometimes that proximity can be six or seven months, like the second and third installments of The Matrix series, but typically it is a few short years. The trend that has been rippling through the release of sequels is to revisit films from yesteryear. After thirty years there were sequels to classics such as Top Gun and Blade Runner. After nine years though the Ben Affleck action film The Accountant is getting a sequel.
The Accountant is not the classics that Top Gun and Blade Runner are and whike it was a good movie I don’t remember it as well as I do the other mentioned films. I remember enjoying iy and being intrigued by the central character, but that’s about it.
I started the sequel with the same intrigue. From there I settled into an action film that had a bit of a slow pace to it. That pace worked when combined with the detective aspects of the story.
Typically in an action film, the film hinges on the action sequences. The Accountabt 2 not only depends on the action sequences but the strength of Ben Affleck in the lead role. Ben Affleck is a talented actor and that talent is on display in his performance here.
I guess I need to rewatch the first feature to remember why I liked it.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
