CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD (2025)

STORYLINE: Quinn Maybrook and her father have moved to tiny, boring Kettle Springs, to find a fresh start, But what they don’t know is that ever since the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory shut down, Kettle Springs has cracked in half. On one side are the adults, who are desperate to make Kettle Springs great again, and on the other are the kids, who want to have fun, make prank videos, and get out as quick as they can. Kettle Springs is caught in a battle between old and new, tradition and progress. It’s a fight that looks like it will destroy the town. Until Frendo, the Baypen mascot, a creepy clown goes homicidal and decides that the only way for Kettle Springs to grow back is to cull the rotten crop of kids who live there now. (IMDb)

Horror films break down into three basic camps for me:  the good, the fun, and the stupid.  Typically the fun tend to fall into both the good and the fun fun categories.  Clown in a Cornfield meets at the crosshairs of the fun and good categories for me.

From the start I knew where Clown in a Cornfield was going with its plot.  Slasher films tend to be pretty cookie cutter thiugh.  This one was ni different.  That’s ok, I was still entertained. Within that plot were some decent jump scares and a feeling that was reminiscent of 1984’s Children of the Corn.  Other then cornfields and folks running around in the, that’s where my comparison between the two horror flicks end,

I feel like slasher films saw their high point li the late.  70s and 80s. Now in mainstream theaters it seems like I am experiencing sequels and remakes. Despise being mediocre I liked that Clown in a Cornfield was an original feature that graced the silver screen.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
