BRIDE HARD (2025)

STORYLINE: When a mercenary group takes a lavish wedding hostage, they have no idea what they are in for as the maid of honor is actually a secret agent ready to rain hellfire upon anyone who would ruin her best friend’s wedding. (IMDb)

Comedies are untended to make the viewer laugh. They come in all shapes and sizes to fit the viewers personal tastes. They come in the slapstick variety (Airplane!, 1980), the action comedy variety (Central intelligence, 2016), horror comedies (Shaun of the Dead, 2004), as well as musical comedies (The Blues Brothers, 1980).  There are many others types of comedies I could list but I must move on.  I like laughing and my personal favorite are slapstick comedies but tend to enjoy a variety of comedies. Recently I sat in the air conditioning to laugh at the new Rebel Wilson comedy Bride Hard.

I’ve enjoyed a variety of comedies that fell under the action comedy umberella. Red (2010) and Spy (2015) were great. I was disappointed that Brife Hard did not continue that tradition.

Rebel Wilson could not carry the film in the lead. She has been fine in supporting roles in films such as Bridesmaids (2012) and the Pitch Perfect trilogy.  A little bit of her humor goes a long way with me, that’s why I felt I enjoyed her more ain a supporting capacity then as a leading lady.

Maybe if she had better material then what was in Bride Hard. The jokes fell flat, and that may have been in the hands of aby actress they were given to.

There was nothing new in the story. From the opening moments I saw where the story was going. I haven’t minded this fact in before, as long as I have been entertained. That was not the case in Bride Hard.

The one good thing that came out of this film is it helps me to appreciate the good films I enjoy more.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
