ABRAHAM’S BOYS: A DRACULA STORY (2025)

STORYLINE: Abraham van Helsing moves his two sons to the United States in an attempt to escape their past. (IMDb)

Movies inspired by vampires, Draculain particular, are all over the radar. It’s hard to top the 1931 Universal Monster Movie Dracula or the 1992 Gary Oldman Dracula adaption.  Of course I have to mention Twighitf (2008), it’s a huge guilty pleasure.  I had a lot of fun with Reinfeild (2023) and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (2012).  Then there’s the countless B vampire films. Now there’s Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story.

This sequel picks yeats later, as Van Helsing has migrated to the United States.  As he lives in isolation with his family he continues his work hunting down vampires.  His boys become aware of his work and Van Helsing passes on his legacy.

This film felt like a western with jump scares mixed into it instead of a horror film set in  the American west.  Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story featured aspects featured in both genres.  I enjoy when films blend gevres together, Sinners (2025) did this  very well.  With this feature it tended to favor westerns more then horror films. I like both genres and was still entertained by the feature watched.

Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story owes a lot of its plot points to a Bill Paxton directed horror film, Fraility (2001). Full disclosure it’s not a vampire film, a lot of the plot ponts seem to be taken from Fraility. I enjoyed both movies but Fraility was more of a horror film and edges out Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story.

Though not the greatest film or even a great film this was still an entertaining one

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
