SUPERMAN (2025)

STORYLINE: Superman must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned. (IMDb)

Superhero fatigue has set in at the cinemas, for me.  Between the Marvel and DC releases there have been three – four releases a year for many years now.  It seems like theaters are ALWAYS playing some superhero title. I still see them because I enjoy a big spectacle and love seeing a movie with an excited crowd. Superhero films deliver that routinely first me.  What they rarely deliver is a film I get into. The latest Superman bucks that trend.

Superman a great popcorn flick!  I was quickly swept into the Man Of Steel’s story.

The reboot jumps straight into the adventure. The film did not waste time explaining the back story, that everyone already knows. Instead a few lines of dialogue, scattered throughout the film, are used as character development serve as that back story explanation. It was a better story telling device.

Bringing in other superheroes into the film could have gone one way or another for the story. Using secondary heroes instead of Batman or Wonder Woman did not take away from the film being a Superman film and the heroes added to the overall since of fun, that the was on display.

This has been my favorite portrayal of Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, here on Earth. They were portrayed as simple, down to earth, farmers. Typically I have found these charecters to be portrayed as characters that are a bit self righteous for their actions.

While I enjoyed Nicholas Hoult as Lex Louther I wanted the character to be older, Especially considering the events of the film.  Bryan Cranston would be my choice to step in to the shoes.

It was a nice change of pace to sit back and be that entertained, once again, by a superhero film.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
