THE NAKED GUN (2025)

STORYLINE: Only one man has the particular set of skills – to lead Police Squad and save the world. (imdb)

In 2008 Liam Neeson proclaimed, in the film Taken, he has a special set of skills.  Those skills are as an action star. Since then those skills have been put to the test on films like the A-Team (2010) remake, two more Taken films, and Cold Pursuit (2019) to name a few. Now in 2025 he is showing off a new set of skills as leading man in a comedy, in The Naked Gun.

It’s hard to conceive of the idea of recreating the iconic 1988 Leslie Nielsen comedy. The gags worked perfectly and the jokes landed great, in no small part to the comedy star that headlined the film.  Instead of recreating the same gags and jokes, they were retooled for Liam Neeson.  Because of this approach I was laughing at a gag or joke that I was familiar with but that was new and exciting.

Adding to the zaniness of the film was producer Seth McFarlene.  His blend of silliness seems right for The Naked Gun.

Do I need to mention Pamela Anderson? Yes, yes I do.  She was having fun with her role and it came through in the performance. Isn’t that the point of this film? To sit back for eighty five minutes and have fun?  I say yes!

I was widely entertained by a film that was created to wildly entertain me!  I really can’t ask for anything more.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
