2025 SUMMER MOVIE SEASON RECAP

My personal preference of long nights and short days is slowly happening, day by day.  Like this yearly tradition the 2025 summer movie season’s credits are beginning to roll.

In a time dedicated to big sequels and remakes three original films stood out of the pack for me: the documentary Secret Mall Apartment, the cringe comedy Friebdship, and The Life of Chuck starring Tom Hiddlestom.  In a season, stereotypically dedicated to mindless entertainment three is a feast.

28 Years Later found its way to the top of the sequel and remake mountain for the summer. It did this by having a compelling story, with great performances, and propelling its franchise in a unique direction.

The superhero films surprised me this summer.  Thunderbolts did not. It was the typical run of the mill Marvel film, that has flooded the market over the past decade, if not longer.  This is why I am tired of superhero films.  However Superman and Fantastic Four:First Steps surprised me at how fun they were.  Superman had the edge for me.

Elio and Jurassic World: Rebirth were entertaining west I watched them. As time goes on I am sure I will forgot about details about the two filns in no time flat.  It will surprise me if Elio dies not get nominated for the Animated Feature Oscar.  It was pretty to look view, which Pixar does well, seven when their story isn’t all together.

Of course there were duds. Do I really need to say anymote about Smurfs?

With all that said I look forward to the fall when the majority of the Oscar bait films get projected on the silver screen.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
