STORYLINE: The Demon Slayer Corps are drawn into the Infinity Castle, where Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the Hashira face terrifying Upper Rank demons in a desperate fight as the final. (IMDb)
My history with anime has been solely feature films such as Big Fish & Begonia (2016), Kiki’s Delivery Service (2010), My Neighbor Totoro (1988), and my personal favorite The Wind Rises (2013). I haven’t watched any of the television series. I took my normal seat, to see the movie Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle knowing it was a continuation of a television series and I would have sone catching up to do.
As an outsider looking in, the story is an entertaining story. There were regular action sequences that kept my attention and entertained me throughout the two and a half hour runtime.
With the outsider perspective I was not all that invested in the characters. There was plenty of back story intertwined into the story. I can imagine a regular fan of the series would get more out of then me.
I prefer the animation of the films. It has an aesthetic look, that is mode pleasing to me. Though the process it takes to create a feature film, such as The Boy and the Heron (2023), is different then it is in creating a television series like Demon Slayer. Also the atmosphere that is being created is a different one.
I think more of a background with Demon Slayer would have added to me enjoyment.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
