Sometimes, why does it take so long for a sequel to arrive in cinemas? After how many years is a sequel really relevant, or depending on the film necessary? Sometimes the sequel can be a fantastic feature film, such as Top Gun: Maverick. Other times, well let’s just say, there is a sequel to the Micheal Douglas 80’s film Wall Street. Now it’s 2025 and after forty years This is Spinal Tap is the latest film to get a sequel after many, many years with the release of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.
After forty one years the sequel slump sets in. However, the film did not slide as far down as it should have slid. The randomness of it all still was entertaining, but I find that humor entertaining. Some of the on going jokes from the first return to the sequel, and new jokes are added in, to make me laugh.
Side note about jokes from the first feature, the film played in auditorium eleven. I’m sure it was just coincidence, but it brought up one of my favorite jokes from the original feature. This has nothing to do with Spinal Tap II: The End Continues beyond a personal moment of enjoyment for this film goer.
A lot of the fun came from the A-List musicians who cameo throughout the sequel. The best was Sir Elton John, but that is just my bias opinion. I say that as a fan of his music. Also after seeing him in the Kingsman sequel, I enjoy watching Elton John play himself in a jokingly way in comedies.
The brand of humor from 1984’s This is Spinal Tap returns in full force for the 2025 sequel. While it stands in the shadow of a great predessor Spinal Tap II: The End Continues still entertained and amused me.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
