When I watch anime, I tend to prefer feature films, over television series’. I am a film guy after all. The Wind Rises (2013), When Marnie was There (2014), and Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989) are my favorites. I hace also enjoyed anime films such as the Chinese anime Big Fish & Begonia (2016) and Pakistan’s The Glassworker(2025). Recently I sat down to enjoy Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, the new movie from the from the TV series of the same name.
Let me start with a confession: as I walked into the theater to watch the film, I had not, and still haven’t read the source material, nor watched the television series, that the film continues. For the most part I was able to pick right up with what I had missed, in prior events. A few minor points went over my head, other then that I was good to go.
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc was a fast paced hundred minutes. The action seances came quickly, and had a visual appeal. The visual appeal continued beyond the action sequences. Personally, I have enjoyed the animation style of anime films.
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is a creature feature full of teen angst. While I was entertained by this feature film, if I am watching a film on the subject of teen angst,I prefer The Twilight Saga. I am a fan. Before you ask, because I am sure you are curious, I am teak Edward. This is not to say that Chainsaw Mam was not enjoyable for me. It was.
This was an entertaining, visually appealing anime feature film.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
