STORYLINE: A young Predator outcast from his clan finds an unlikely ally on his journey in search of the ultimate adversary. (indb)
Have you ever looked at a film sequel with wonder, and go why is this series this deep into its franchise? Star Wars, Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015), Terminator: Dark Fate (2019), The Matrix Resurrection (2021) are some of the those franchise features thay put that question in my mind. Predator: Badlands, the latest in the Predator series, is one such film to raise that question, for me.
The 1987 film that kicked off the series is a far cry from a cinematic masterpiece. However, it is a lot of fun to watch. Lightning very rarely strikes twice, in film. I am a sucker for the franchise crossover Aliens V Predator – Requiem (2007), and Prey (2022) was surprisingly fantastic. So, my excitement for Predator: Badlands was high when I walked into the r theater.
Much like the films previously listed, the latest Predator entry ends up being a fun science fiction, action feature. The film doesn’t pretend to be anything more. That’s where I set my expectations.
Predator: Badlands is filled with creatures, that are a blast to watch. The creatures are part of a bigger visual feast. The film is a visual spectacle.
This science fiction feature is a fun franchise entry, both with its story and visual style.
Until next time I will see you at the movies!
