SISU: ROAD TO REVENGE (2025)

STORYLINE: Returning to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the war, “the man who refuses to die” (Jorma Tommila) dismantles it, loads it on a truck, and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honor. When the Red Army commander who killed his family (Stephen Lang) comes back hellbent on finishing the job, a relentless, eye-popping cross-country chase ensues – a fight to the death. (IMDb)

Film is an international media.  There is the incredible Parasite (2019), from South Korea, the breath taking Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000) from China, and the true story The Intouchables (2011), from France.  I can’t forget Spain’s Pan’s Labyrinth, from 2006.  Sisu: Road to Revenge, is an action film from Finland, that has just been released.

The story is pretty straight forward. It’s a revenge film.  There’s nothing to it beyond that, story wise.

With that said, action sequences come in a variety of shapes and sizes.  Some are realistic, others are gritty, and some are over the top.  Sisu: Road to Revenge is an action film filled with over the top, bloody action sequences.  The action sequences in the film are frequent, a bit relentless, and, as mentioned, over the top.  If action films are your kind of movies, this R rated  film is one to watch.

Sisu: Road to Revenge features minimal dialogue. It, in fact has more action sequences then lines of dialogue.  Breaking up the action sequences are title cards, which divide the film into chapters, and aid in moving the story forward.

The film has a post apocalyptic film feel to it, very similar to Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).  With its post war plot and dark cinematography that feel comes naturally.

Sisu: Road to Revenge is an action packed feature, with over the top action sequences.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
