STORYLINE: Benoit Blanc returns for his most dangerous case yet. (IMDb)

  Movie murder mysteries. That’s  tongue twister covering a vast range of films from classic ensemble films (Murder of the Orient Express, 1974 & 2017) to comedies (Murder by Death, 1976).  Blending both murder mysteries and science fiction is my all time  favorite film Gattaca (1997).  The third entry in the Knives Out franchises, Wake Up Dead Man: A knives Out Mystery, sleuths its way to cinemas.

   Wake up Dead Man continues the trend set by its predecessors, and casts a who’s who of celebrities in the ensemble, led by Daniel Craig.  Yes, that bad southern accent, Daniel Craig vocalizes, returns. The  threequel creates an over the top murder to be solved, in an over the top way.  The film creates a since of fun, but falls short of being as fun as both Knives Out (2019) and Glass Onion (2022). 

   While still featuring a since of fun, the film had a featured a stronger darker side.  With themes that question faith and discuss mortality its natural to be a darker film.

   Wake up Dead Man boasts a run time that is just shy of two and a half hours.  That runtime needed trimming.  Getting to the story faster would easily solve that problem. 

   Wake up Dead Man was a darker entry in the Knives Out franchise that needed some editing.  One I still enjoyed watching, bad southern accent included.
