    Merchant Ivory set the standard for costume films with films such as Remains of the Day (1993) and Howard’s End (1992).  How many classic literature adaptations are hace lit up the silver screen, with releases such as Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights among others?  The Downton Abbey television series was transformed into a trilogy of feature films.  Fackham Hall is the latest 2025 costume release.

   Much like the Downton Abbey trilogy, Fackham Hall is a fluff film. This feature, however, is much more lighter fare, to the point of being a satiate of Downton Abbey.

   Fackham Hall is filled with sarcasm, wit, and gags reminiscent of classic humor such as Abbot and Costello.  It is a very light hearted and pretty mindless film to view.  

   In the grand tradition of period pieces the costumes are extravagant, sets are equally so, and the dramatic plot points are scandalous.  It would not be a genre piece without these tropes. 

   In the end, Fackham Hall is a cookie cutter costume genre feature. It is a satire of Downton Abbey.
