DUST BUNNY (2025, Independent Horror)

STORYLINE: An eight-year-old girl asks her scheming neighbor for help in killing the monster under her bed that she thinks ate her family.(IMDb)

There are many sub genres to horror.  Slasher films, haunted houses movies, and zombie flicks to name a few.  Like all genres horror films has had independent features made within its genre.  The Blair Witch Project (1999) and Halloween (1978) were game changers to the sub genre.  Donnie Darko (2001) has gone on to receive cult status.  2012’s The Last Will & Testament of Rosalind Leigh is an incredible motion picture. Sigourney Weaver and Mads Mikkelson (Casino Royale, 2006) co star in Dust Bunny, a new independent horror film.

As previously mentioned there multiple kinds of horror features.  Dust Bunny is a monster movie.  The story has a mystery to it.  The film releases its information at a slow, but steady pace.  All this with a creepy atmosphere, featured throughout the movie. This is the kind of horror film I adore.   The Witch (2015) and Stopmotion (2023) did all of these well, also.

Mads Mikkelson I has done villainous well over his career.  He did the most notoriously, as the 007 antagonist in in Casino Royale, opposite Daniel Craig.  The trend has continued with such films as the 2016 MCU entry Doctor Strange, the Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022) as well as Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023).  Dust Bunny is another villainous role that the actor tackles perfectly.

Dust Bunny is a well paced, independent monster movie, with a mystery to it.  It’s safe to say, this is my kind of horror feature!

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
