CHARLIE THE WONDERDOG (2026)

STORYLINE: A young and timid boy, Danny, imagines a wonderous world in which he and his cherished dog, Charlie, star in their own superhero adventures. When Charlie is mysteriously abducted by aliens, he is gifted true superpowers and emerges as Charlie Wonderdog, the greatest and most famous superhero dog the world has ever seen.     Superheroes aren’t just an Avenger or a member of the Justice League.  Some heroes are animated, proving that the pen is mightier then the sword.  The Incredibles (2004), TMNT (2007), and Teen Titans go to the Movies (2018) all saved the day within their animated tale.  Charlie the Wonderdog, is the latest animated superhero feature to fly into cinemas, and save the day.

Immediately, this kid friendly feature fell flat. The story is a dime a dozen origin story.  Charlie the Wonderdog fails to even meet the basic standard of entertainment for such a film. The jokes misses the mark, and the animation looked as if it was being phoned in.

Charlie the Wonderdog is the type of kids film I dislike.  It treats its young audience like they can’t comprehend any challenging material.  I am not saying age inappropriate material, I am saying material that would stimulate their mind, in some way.  This is the kid version of the kind of film that I write about that is insulting, and condescending.  I keep asking why should younger viewers be subjected to lesser content in cinena, just because of their age?

Between a lackluster story, and telling it with no substance,my tail did not wag watching Charlie the Wonderdog.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
