THE MOMENT (2026)

STORYLINE: A rising pop star navigates the complexities of fame and industry pressure while preparing for her arena tour debut. (IMDb)

Hollywood loves rock ‘n roll!  This is evident with biopics such as Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) about Freddie Mercury, and the Amy Winehouse drama Back to Black (2024).

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and This is Spinal Tap (1984) have rocked fiction features.  The Moment, is a new rock ‘n roll mockumentary.

The story of The Moment centers around a rising rock diva, portrayed by Charli XCX.  From there the movie features the classics one would find at a rock concert: the music, dancing performances, and flashing lights. All are featured throughout the film, beyond the concert segments, as either part of the story being told, or the visual element of the film.

The visual style, with the continuing flashing lights, was overwhelming.  So much so, I found myself stepping out of the auditorium for a few minutes, to have a break from the bombardment of lights. By the time the movie ended, I still found myself feeling a bit light headed from this imagery.

The feature talked alot about the clashes of creativity, among artists.  These segments were the only parts of the film that were interesting to watch. The rest of The Moment’s story was filled with the characters complaining, and a bunch of loud white noise.

Outside of some moments on the struggles of collaboration, The Moment, was a movie     I found to be loud, overstimulating, and uninteresting.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
