Crime movies enjoy a popularity among cinema goers. The Godfather (1972) and Pulp Fiction (1994) are two of the most popular crime films ever made.  The Silence of the Lambs, the horror film about crime, would sweep the Oscars.  Last years The Housemaid enjoyed its moment in the sun.  Glen Powell, headlines the latest the latest crime flick, How to Make a Killing.

Crime films come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.  Some are are action packed, others are scary, and some are slow burn films, such as this years Crime 101.  How to Make a Killing is a thriller with a very dark sense of humor.  With the premise of this film, any sense of humor would be a dark one.  This combination is an odd one, creating a fun  feature for the winter months.  The catch?  You need to be into murder movies.

The lead of How to Make a Killing is Glen Powell.  He looks like he was having fun with his character.  In short I enjoyed watching him in the role. I am a nit bias though, I wanted to enjoy the performance because I am a fan of the star. I have been since the once two punch of Yop Gun: Maverick and Devotion, both from 2022.  I am also a huge fan of the 2023 rom com Anyone but You.

How to Make a Killing is a dark comedy, thriller about murder.  If you like thrillers with a dark sense of humor this one is for you.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
