Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all. (IMDb)

Janet Leigh in Psycho (1960), Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween (1978), and Jodie Foster in The Silence of the Lambs (1991) all were iconic female leads in iconic horror films.  Neve Campbell returns to her iconic horror, role of Sidney Prescott, in Scream 7.

There is a delicate balancing act, as a franchise film tally grows. There is a formula that once made the franchise a success that gets tiresome.  Fans want something new and exciting, they also want the comfort of what they originally fell in love with.  Scream, is now seven films into that franchise, since debuting thirty years ago, in 1996.

Scream has never been the best of franchises. It has been consistently reliable with its entertainment.  Scream 7 upholds that tradition. It fits the mold set by it’s predecessors, and filled with thirty years of franchise nostalgia.   It continues the tradition of being a fun slasher movie. There is nothing out of the ordinary, with the seventh Scream feature.

In the end Scream 7: does nothing new for the franchise.  It is the kind of film that fans of the series have come to love.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
