STORYLINE: When a young girl summons a driver using a seemingly innocent ritual, she must fulfill his demands if she ever wants to get back home in 1992 Long Island. (IMDb)
What do the horror films The Texas Chabsaw n Massacre (1974), Friday tge 13th part 2 (1981), and Terrifier(2016) all have in common? Their antagonists are all silent characters. The new Indy horror feature, The Mid-Night Driver, is a new independent horror, feature film, featuring an antagonist, in a non-vocal role.
While I referenced slasher films at the start of this blog, The Mid-Night Driver is far from being one itself. The movie is based in urban legend. Once the legend becomes reality, the movie becomes a horror odyssey home.
The film features a slow pace, not so slow that one will lose interest, but slow in which the tension and suspense builds throughout the feature. This tension, and suspense is what gives the movie it scares, along with a few jump, scares sprinkled in.
is a child of the 90s, I loved the look of The Mid-Night Driver. The future was set in 1992. It captured that era, and I had a nostalgia flashbacks as I watched the feature.
The Mid-Night Driver is a suspense filled, 90 set or feature.
Until next time, I will see you at the movies!
