STORYLINE: Follows Elvis Presley, featuring never-before-seen footage and recordings. (IMDb)
Getting a celebrities insight into their own story has the potential to be a fascinating insight. In the 2025 documentary Janis Ian: Breaking Silence, Janis Ian gave a honest insight into her life. In the Oscar winning documentary, Amy (2015), using archival footage and television interviews, Amy Winehouse told her story in the film. In the new film, Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert, archival footage of a king of rock ‘n’ roll was restored, audio was synced, and Elvis himself narrated the concert film.
It was interesting to hear Elvis, himself, discuss his music, his movies, his career, and occasionally his view points on the era. The film features footage of rehearsals, and a peak into the creative process, of his Las Vegas residency. There was plenty of concert footage from multiple shows of the kings’ Las Vegas residency. After all this is a concert film.
While I am not a fan of Elvis’ music, I enjoyed the experience of seeing music portions, on the big screen. Personally, I don’t like attending live performances, I am more of a movie guy. Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert allowed me to the benefit on an Elvis concert, in the media I prefer. The added benefit, more so if you are a fan of the rock legend, is when seeing this film theatrically, with the surround sound of the theater, and images on the huge screen, it’s getting like getting to experience a concert years after the Elvis’ death.
Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert is a concert film that fans get an insight into Elvis, from the king of rock n’ roll first hand.
Until next time, I will see you at the movies!
